Congratulations to Everett Jackson, Michaela Heard-Dick, and Will Ulman for advancing to GHP State level interviews in music. Final interviews will be held in January. Good Luck at state!

Congratulations to our orchestra students that represented Hillgrove at the Cobb County Honor Orchestra Concert and the Georgia Youth Symphony Concert this past weekend. I went to the Honor Orchestra concert on Saturday night and it was amazing!

I am so proud of everything that you guys do! Way to go!

Dinner Theater Information

‘Tis the Season…again.

Dine to the festive sounds of the Lost Mountain and Lovinggood 8th Grade Orchestras. Then join us upstairs for the Hillgrove Orchestra’s Holiday Concert at 7pm in the Boland Theater.
Here’s the information that you need:

Dinner Theater and Holiday Concert
December 3, 2009
5:00PM – 6:45PM Dinner – Entertainment provided by the Lost Mountain and Lovinggood Orchestras.
7:00PM – Hillgrove Orchestras Holiday Concert

Tickets $15.50 for patrons / $9.50 for performers. Tickets must be purchased by Nov. 20th from any Hillgrove orchestra student. No tickets available at the door. As always, admission to the concert is free to all.

Dinner catered by Macaroni Grill

Choose from:
Pasta Milano
(Bow tie pasta with tender grilled chicken, and sun dried tomatoes in a roasted garlic sauce)
OR
Spaghetti and Meatballs
All dinners include a salad, bread, tea, and cake.
Served in the cafeteria from 5:00pm—6:45pm

Honeybaked Hams Fundraiser Due Date Changed

In order to distribute gift card prior to the Thanksgiving Break, all Honeybaked Hams orders need to be turned into the orchestra office by Monday, November 16th.

Senior Project Performance on November 12

Members of the Mastery Orchestra will perform for Senior Project on Thursday, November 12 in the front lobby from 5-6 PM. This is a mandatory performance. We will wear our casual uniforms…orchestra polo with tan/khaki pants or skirts. No shorts!

Fall Concert and Uniform Information

The Fall Orchestra Concert will be held on Thursday, October 22nd at 7PM in the Joseph Boland Theater. Advanced and Mastery Orchestra students need to be at school, dressed and ready for more publicity photos at 5:30. We will have a brief rehearsal immediately after the photos. Intermediate Orchestra students should arrive at 6PM. All students are expected to stay for the entire concert, which should end shortly after 8PM.

Concert uniforms and orchestra polo shirts were delivered today. Students may pick up their uniforms tomorrow (Tuesday). Please try on your uniform to make sure it fits…dresses will likely need to be hemmed. Try to do this before the concert on Thursday if possible.

Discounted Rooms for Parents in Savannah

The Hilton Garden Inn Savannah Historic District has extended their group rate of $109.00 per night to Hillgrove Orchestra parents that will be attending our performance at the GMEA State Conference. The orchestra will be staying here on Wednesday and Thursday nights (January 27th and 28th).

Savannah Trip Deposit Due Nov 1st

If you are a member of the Advanced or Mastery Orchestra and plan to perform in Savannah at the GMEA State Conference, a NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT of $100.00 is due by November 1st.

It is critical that I know who is planning on performing for programming purposes. I also need a final number in order to determine the final cost of the trip. At this time the cost is still estimated to be $250-300 per student. Costs for chaperones should be about $150.00.

More detailed information will be available by the end of this week and will be posted on the blog.

As always, checks should payable to HOBC. No Cash.

The October HOBC meeting was quick and painless. Here are the highlights:

The Krispy Kreme fundraiser has been very successful so far. We are selling Krispy Kremes every Tuesday and Thursday morning before school for $5.00 per box. Money from this fundraiser will be used to offset the cost of transportation for the Savannah trip.

Teresa Caldwell was installed as the HOBC Fund-raising Chair.

Thanks to Eric Wright for securing a venue for the Orchestra Banquet, which will be held at Burnt Hickory Baptist Church on May 14th.

The Annual Orchestra Dinner Theater will be held on December 3rd. Parents volunteers are still needed.

The Fall Orchestra Concert is coming up on Thursday, October 22nd, and All-State / Honor Orchestra auditions will be held on October 24th at Westminster.

If you haven’t paid your 2009-2010 orchestra dues, please send in your $50.00 check, payable to HOBC, ASAP.
