Visual and Performing Arts College Fair – October 7th at Pebblebrook HS
The Visual and Performing Arts College Fair, sponsored by the National Association for College Admission Counseling, will be held on the campus of the Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts at Pebblebrook High School on Wednesday, October 7, from 7:00PM until 9:00PM. Admission to the fair is free of charge and open to the public.
At NACAC’s Performing and Visual Arts College Fairs, students, parents and art institutions take center stage. These fairs allow college-bound students interested in the arts to meet one-on-one with admission representatives from colleges, universities, conservatories, studios, festivals, and other educational institutions with specialized programs in the visual and performing arts. Attendees learn about educational opportunities, admission and financial aid, portfolio days, audition and entrance requirements, student life, and much more.
While plenty of information is available for college-bound students with traditional interests, not as many resources exist for those who are more artistically inclined. NACAC’s Performing and Visual Arts College Fairs fill a vital need for the growing number of students pursuing college degrees in music, theater, art, dance, visual arts, graphic design and writing. These fairs offer a unique opportunity to get the inside scoop on what it takes to obtain a degree in the arts.
Annually, more than 20,000 students attend NACAC’s Performing and Visual Arts College Fairs throughout the country. This fall, NACAC will sponsor Performing and Visual Arts Fairs in 17 locations throughout the country, including New York; Boston; Philadelphia; Los Angeles; Washington, DC; Chicago; Dallas; and Atlanta.

Welcome Back!
Hello Everyone!
I hope that you all had a great summer. I know that I did!
I’m sure that most of you have heard, but I want to go ahead and make the official announcement…
The Hillgrove Advanced Chamber Orchestra has been selected to perform at the Georgia Music Educators State Conference in Savannah on January 28, 2010.
This is a tremendous accomplishment for a program that is only four years old. We are one of three high school orchestras in the state to be selected for this honor. I am very proud of your hard work over the past three years…it has really paid off. I will provide more details when I see you next week. The chamber orchestra and mastery level orchestra will combine for this performance. Needless to say, we have some work ahead of us as we prepare for this big event.
For the first couple of days back to school you will NOT need your instruments. Let’s plan on playing on Wednesday, August 12th. I will hold auditions the following week beginning on the 17th, so go ahead and start working those scales and a prepared piece of your choosing.
If you have a problem with your schedule, we will take care of it next week during during schedule review.
In an effort to “go green” I am going to try to have the updated Orchestra Handbook finished and posted in the middle column of this blog by Monday. There will be a parent signature form to download and sign. These forms will need to be returned to me by Friday, August 14th. Please be sure to have a look at the orchestra calendar. It has been updated to include all of our concerts for the year. Mark your calendars now so that there won’t be any problems on concerts days.
Be sure to check back here often. I will post updated information fairly often over the first few weeks.
Again, congratulations on being selected to perform at GMEA!
See you on Monday!
