McEachern High School and its ASTA/NSOA Student Chapter will be sponsoring its 16th Annual Summer String Camp for your children.  It will be held on Mondays and Thursdays beginning on Monday, July 6th and concluding on Thursday, July 23rd.  Classes will be held in the Orchestra Room of the Alton Keith Performing Arts Center on the McEachern campus starting at 7:00 P.M. and concluding at 9:00 P.M.  Instructors will include Mrs. Susie Hines, Mrs. Robbie Ooten, Mr. Mark Pulley and Dr. Mooney.

The camp is intended for rising 7th-12th Grade string students, but younger students are welcome. Incoming 9th Grade students as well as McEachern Orchestra students are expected to attend a MINIMUM of three sessions.  Two orchestras will be created. Students will spend the majority of time sight-reading new music, preparing scales and chorales, and further developing basic skills such as shifting and vibrato.  Cost for this camp is $50 per child, $5 extra for each additional child in the family.  CHECKS ARE TO BE MADE OUT TO THE McEACHERN ORCHESTRA and mailed to the above address; although there is no deadline, I need to know before camp opens how many students to expect. There are a limited number of cellos and basses, so please indicate if you need to use one; we will try to honor all requests.  Students should arrive ready to play on Monday, July 6th.  Please return the bottom portion of this notice with your check and fill out all necessary information.  Your check is your receipt; they will be deposited after the first day of camp. There are no refunds after the first class.

Looking forward to seeing you,                                                                                                                   Tim Mooney Susie Hines Mark Pulley Robbie Ooeten

Other Camp Information:

If you are interested in attend a camp or workshop over the summer, now is the time to get the process started. There are many camps in the southeast, and several right here in the Atlanta Metro area.  Check out the links below for information.

Attending a summer music camp is an outstanding way to improve as a musician, with opportunities to study with professionals and to meet other students with similar interests.  I know that I will never forget my experiences at different music camps each summer.

Enrollment is limited for most camps, so if you are interested you should apply early. I will be happy to help you in any way…if you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call or send an email.  Making music is a great way to spend the summer…I hope you will consider attending a camp this year.
