Congratulations!

Congratulations to the following orchestra students on their successful auditions for the Georgia All-State and District Honor Orchestras last weekend.

Violin – Dara Gray – 11th chair, 1st violin in Honor Orchestra / advances to state level audition

Kim Ranallo – advanced to state level audition

Viola – Rachel Ford – 3rd chair in Honor Orchestra / advances to state level audition

Kyle Mayes- 2nd chair in Honor Orchestra / advances to state level audition

Cello – Will Ulman – 6th Chair in Honor Orchestra / advances to state level audition

 

District Honor Orchestra will be held November 14-15.  The District Honor Orchestra concert is on November 15 at 7PM at Kennesaw Mountain High School.
In January, each of these students will audition at the state level for a position in the 2009 Georgia All-State Orchestra.  Best wishes and good luck!

Belk Charity Fundraiser

Orchestra students have a fantastic opportunity to earn money for their student accounts by selling Belk Charity Sale coupons.  The coupons sell for $5.00.  Coupon holders will enjoy 20-50% off throughout the entire store, including special savings on rarely discounted merchandise from 6 am to 10 am on Saturday, November 15th.  Plus, the coupons can be used to receive $5 off the first purchase during the charity sale hours at the Dallas Highway or Town Center Belk locations.  Pre-selling is also available November 10-14 with a Belk charge card.

Every coupon sold will credit $5.00 to the applicable student’s account.  That’s right, 100% of the coupon sales benefit the students!  To participate, please pick up a permission slip at school.  Once a signed permission slip has been received, your student will receive 5 coupons to sell.  Additional coupons will be provided when the money from the first 5 coupons has been received.  All checks should be made out to the student’s parent and the parent is to return one check made payable to HOBC.

Tornado Rider to Perform at Kell HS – Oct 27 at 7:30PM

We have been invited to see Rushad Eggleston and his band Tornado Rider perform at Kell High School on Monday, October 27 at 7:30 PM.  This will be a fun evening and a fantastic concert…I want to encourage everyone to attend.

Rushad is a graduate of the prestigious Berklee School of Music and is breaking ground in alternative styles, putting his electric cello up front in rock and bluegrass styles.  You can find out more about Rushad and Tornado Rider at:

Tickets for this concert are $10.00, but the Hillgrove Orchestra Booster Club will make them available to Hillgrove orchestra students for $5.00.  Parents and other family members are also invited to attend for full price. Please make your checks out to HOBC and return them to me by this Friday, October 17. 

Please be aware that if you order a ticket and do not attend, you will owe the HOBC $5.00.  While this is technically a field trip, you will need to provide your own transportation to and from the concert.  This concert will count 10 points towards your orchestra letter.
