Tour of the US Capitol
Good news! Through my connections at the Governor’s Mansion and Senator Isakson’s office (sounds impressive, huh), I was able to arrange a tour of the US Capitol for us on Thursday, April 17th at 1:00PM. We will be able to view the Senate in session from the Senate gallery, and then get a personal tour of the of the Capitol from members of Senator Isakson’s office. After we tour the Capitol, we will then go to various Smithsonian Museums for the remainder of the afternoon, then have dinner in DC before we head back to Williamsburg. Final costs should be determined sometime next week.

Final Trip Payment
The final payment for the trip to Williamsburg/Washington DC will be due next week. We are still waiting on the final bill from Heritage Festivals. I anticipate that the final cost of the trip will be $550-$600. The cost has changed slightly because we have added an extra night at the hotel. We had to do this to accommodate the bus driver, who is required by federal regulations to have a minimum of 8 hours of sleep before he drives again. If we drove through the night on Wednesday, he wouldn’t be able to take us to DC (or anywhere else) on Thursday because of this regulation. Therefore, we need to arrive in Williamsburg by midnight, so he can get his 8 hours before we depart for DC on Thursday morning. (Frankly, I think this will be easier on everyone.) I am waiting on the final bill from Heritage Festivals…it was mailed on Monday. Once I receive the bill and confirm all of our activities, I will let everyone know the final cost of the trip, along with a detailed accounting of costs for each of our activities. I appreciate everyone being so patient…putting together a trip like this is difficult, and can sometimes become complicated as the final details are worked out. I will send out an email and post information to the blog as soon as possible.
