Booster Club Meeting Thursday at 7PM

Hello Orchestra Parents!

There is a parents meeting this Thursday, August 30th at 7pm in the Orchestra Room. Please park in the right parking lot (as you are looking at the school) and come in the right side door upstairs. The meeting will begin promptly at 7PM and we will finish at 8PM.

This is your chance to support the Orchestras by joining the Booster Club and signing up for events. We will go over what is planned for the year, including the Spring Trip to Williamsburg/Washington D.C., concerts, uniforms, planned fundraisers, general overview of the Orchestra program. As you know in any group, there is usually a handful of people that do the work. We are asking that you each sign up for ONE event, to keep the core group from getting burned out! We need your help to make the Orchestra program successful!

The calendar sale has been mediocre to date. Remember, the profits from the sale go directly into your child’s personal account. We have the calendars on-hand. Both the pocket and the wall calendar list all Cobb County School District events, as well as Hillgrove HS events, test dates, ballgames, etc. Gracious businesses purchased advertisements to pay for the calendars up front, so that the profit can go directly to your child. PLEASE sell calendars!

See you Thursday evening. The meeting will adjourn by 8pm.

Calendar Fund-Raiser Information

Everyone should now have a calendar order form and instructions on how to sell our orchestra calendars. Here is all of the information that was put together by Cindy Ford and sent home this week:

Hillgrove Orchestras School Calendar Fundraiser 2007-08

Welcome back to school!

This year Orchestra members will have the opportunity to go on a Spring trip. In order to help with your finances, the Hillgrove Orchestra Booster Club has come up with some fundraising ideas. Some of our fundraisers will benefit the General Fund and other fundraisers will benefit the individual orchestra student. Each student will have an individual account and all net profits from their participation in these fundraisers will go directly into their account to help offset the cost of their trip.

The first of the individual fundraisers will be our Annual School Calendar Sale. Over the summer, I put together a wall calendar that lists all the CCSD important dates, as well as all the Hillgrove High School dates. For example, the calendar lists all PTSA meetings, all Early Release Days, Report Card dates,
End-of-Course tests dates, Hillgrove Football games, etc. To make the calendar attractive, I have added in pictures from Hillgrove’s first year. There is also smaller version (Pocket Planner) that has all the dates. The planner is ideal to put in the purse or car to recall those important dates.

The Wall calendar will sell for $10 and the Pocket Planner for $5. There is a package incentive for those buying both calendars. If someone purchases both a Wall and a Pocket Planner, the price is $13.00

All students will be given an order form. If you would like to have calendars to show your customers, you must send in $13.00. You will receive one of each calendar. You may then keep the calendars for your own. If you choose not to keep the calendars, you may sell them. We will not make refunds for your sale samples.

The per-calendar profit will be figured at the end of the drive. All costs for running the calendar drive will be subtracted from the gross profit. The net profit from the calendars that YOU sell will be deposited into YOUR trip account at the end of the calendar sale.

Because the calendar is a school year calendar, running from August 2007 to July 2008, it is imperative that the calendar sale begin immediately. If you are interested in earning money to offset the cost of the trip, I will be giving out order forms on August 14th. If you want one of each calendar to show customers, bring $13.00 cash or check. Checks should be made to “HOBC”. It is always easier to sell a product if you have a something to show your customers.

I was very fortunate to offset some of the cost of the calendars with advertisements. These sponsors were very gracious in supporting us so please patronize their businesses.

See you on the 14th,

Cindy Ford,
HOBC Secretary and
Calendar Fundraiser Committee Chair

Welcome Back!

I hope that everyone had a good summer break and that you are all ready to get started with the new school year. We have a lot of great things planned for the Hillgrove Orchestras this year, and this blog is the best way to keep up to date with all of our activities.

Be sure to check out the new calendar link above. It will take you to the Hillgrove Google Calendar of Events, which lists all orchestra events including: HOBC meetings, fund-raising events, district and state level auditions, and all of our concerts. This calendar will be updated as more events are added, so be sure to check back often.

I will be taking care of administrative items the first two days of school, so don’t worry about bringing your instrument until Wednesday. Be sure to practice though…we will be having auditions the second week of school.

I will be posting more information soon, so be sure to check back. I’m really looking forward to seeing every again….I know that we are going to have a great year!
