What a great way to wrap up our first year! I hope everyone enjoyed the Spring Concert and the Orchestra Banquet. I have received so many compliments about the concert…especially in regards to Kashmir. Led Zeppelin always seems to be a crowd favorite! I thought the concert was great…both orchestras played very well, and the eight-graders had a fantastic time sitting in with us. I really like the idea of Ms. Secrist “handing them off to us” during their last performance…I think that this is going to be a nice tradition. Mr. Erwin’s performance was also a highlight for me…I thought he was great! Thanks again for all of the kind words. Don’t forget to pick up your instruments occasionally over the break. We are going to hit the ground running next August. We have established a pretty high standard this year, and I intend to keep pushing next year…be prepared to work!

Hillgrove Orchestra Spring Concert Information
The Hillgrove Orchestra Spring Concert will be held on Thursday, May 10 at 7 PM. This concert will include a performance by the Lovinggood Eighth Grade Orchestra, a combined performance with Lovinggood and Hillgrove’s Chamber Orchestra, and the Hillgrove Concert Orchestra. Hillgrove’s band directors, Mr. Ferrell and Mr. Erwin will be guest solists, and the concert will conclude with a rockin’ version of Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir” featuring electric guitars, bass and drums! You won’t want to miss this concert…be there!
Orchestra Letter Documentation Due by Friday
Just a reminder that this Friday (5/4)is the deadline for submitting documentation for earning an orchestra letter. Orchestra letter requirements and other information can be found under the forms and documents section of this blog.

I am working on the slideshow for the banquet and would like to include your photos and video. If you have anything that I can use, you may send them to me at david.doke@cobbk12.org. You could also put them on a disc and get them to me at Hillgrove, or bring them to the Barnes and Noble performance on Saturday. Thanks!
