Cheung Chau visit to Hillgrove…

World class musician and conductor, Cheung Chau, visited both of Hillgrove’s orchestras last Thursday.

Cheung Chau is Music Director of the Southern Georgia Symphony and an assistant professor at Georgia Southern University. As music director, Mr. Chau leads the Southern Georgia Symphony in a series of masterworks concerts, youth, family and pops concerts. Mr. Chau is a frequent guest conductor in Europe and Asia and has conducted orchestras including the Moscow Symphony Orchestra, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the Gavle Symphony Orchestra and Sibelius Academy Orchestra, among others.

Cheung was very impressed with both orchestras and was happy to answer questions from the students. Cheung performed a Bach Cello Suite for our students as well as for the students from band and choir who had come to participate with us.

It was a real treat to see such an amazing musician working with our fine young students!
