Cobb Symphony Concert this weekend

The Cobb Symphony Orchestra will be performing Mahler’s 5th Symphony this weekend at the new Dozier Center for the Performing Arts. The Concerts will be on Saturday, September 23 at 7 PM, and Sunday afternnon at 3 PM. Tickets are available at www.cobbsymphony.com. This will be an impressive concert and I would like to encourage everyone to attend!

Booster Club Meeting This Thursday, Sept. 14

We will have our regularly scheduled meeting of the Hillgorve Orchestra Booster Club this Thursday, September 14 at 7 PM in the Orchestra Room. We will be finalizing the by-laws, discussing upcoming fundraisers, and planning activities for the first concert. This meeting will be over by 8:30…please make plans to attend.

Sept 15 Playing Test

All orchestra students will have a playing test on Friday, September 15.

Violins - G Major Scale and arpeggio, 3 octaves
Violas - C Major Scale and arpeggio, 3 octaves
Celli and Basses - G Major and D Major scales and arpeggios, 2 octaves

All students will also play measures 85 to the end in Arabian Dreams.

Everyone should be working on their etudes as well.

Dr. Michael Alexander to Visit Hillgrove

On Monday, September 11, Dr. Michael Alexander will be coming to Hillgrove for a visit. Dr. Alexander is Director of the Cobb Symphony, the Georgia Youth Symphony, and the Kennesaw State University Symphony. He will also be conducting the Cobb Honor Orchestra this year. This will a great opportunity for all of us. Please dress nice and be ready to work with a great musician!
